
If you need help in setting up a new site or migrate from existing site, there are resellers and consultants who can help you for a small fee.
The work covered will be.
1a. Search and confirm new website name (abc) and url (abc.com) is available. If the site owner wants to use the name abc as a subdomain
like abc.raaspi.com then skip step 2. There sre many situations where a site url containing qualifier raaspi wont matter but
cost is saved in terms of site registration and SSL fees. The site content will still be the same.
1b. If the site already exists, then create a subdomain like existingname.raaspi.com and use the Tools-Migrate site pages to copy the content. The sucess of copying depends
on the content. For static html pages, the success is quite high. This covers the visitor facing pages only.
2. (optional) Register and set up SSL (allows https to provide secured data transmission) for the site using vendor namecheap or another vendor of customer's choice.
Setup new Email server or use existing mail server so that emails will go as [email protected]. You can use namecheap private email or from another vendor.
RAASPI has built in support for free email hosting from GMail or Zoho mail for outgoing emails.
3. Suggest a suitable predefined site theme to be used as the base. Do further customization of the pages based on user's input and needs. Show previews and get approval.
4. Understand the purpose and specific web presence target and update the menu, field labels and SEO (search engine optimization) for the visitor pages (those not needing login).
5. If Email send is needed and was not set up in step 2., then add Gmail SMTP server so that emails will go as [email protected]. Marketing emails ie bulk email support is
built in and uses mail relay and if Gmail SMTP not installed then used for all emails. However mail relay is not as reliable.
6. (optional) If needed, setup payment gateway like Paypal or Square. This needs the site owner to contact payment processor and set up merchant account. If POS
card reader is needed then hardware cost is involved. For physical inventory taking or for POS use, barcode scanner is needed. Label printer like Dyamo can act as a barcode
and receipt printer for POS. If square terminal is used, the card reader and receipt printer is built in.
7. Get approval and publish the pages. Explain how to use the dashboard and a brief tour of the back office functions.
